Defensible Space
Defensible space is the buffer you create between your home and the wildland fuels around it. Done well, it slows fire spread, gives crews a safe place to defend a structure, and protects the native habitat you actually want to keep. Done poorly — clear-cutting, scalping, indiscriminate spraying — it can leave the land more vulnerable than before.
We work the way CAL FIRE recommends: zone by zone, plant by plant. Zone 0 (0–5 ft from the structure) is kept ember-resistant. Zone 1 (5–30 ft) is thinned and spaced. Zone 2 (30–100 ft) is managed for fuel continuity. We document what we remove, what we keep, and why — so you have a record before fire season and a plan for the years that follow.

We produce it on-site from the woody material we remove during defensible-space and fuels-reduction work — so the byproduct of one job becomes the input for the next.
