Robert founded Ecotones Land Stewardship to care for Northern California land the way it actually asks to be cared for — slowly, and with attention to the whole watershed. Based in Oakland, he leads a bilingual crew that grows native plants, builds defensible space, produces biochar, and restores ponds and streams.

His approach is the same on every site: scope honestly, work at the pace of the land, choose native ecology over quick fixes, and come back to make sure the work took. It’s stewardship rooted in long-term care — of the land, and of the people who live on it.
